John began his investment career in 1991 and joined Stifel Independent Advisors in 2022.  Prior to joining Stifel, he worked at Merrill Lynch as a financial advisor for more than 30 years.  With his drive to understand and best serve each of his clients, he employs financial strategies to guide each client in pursuing their specific financial goals.

John graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and holds Series 7, 31, 63, and 65 securities licenses.  He earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst®, Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor, and Certified Retirement Plans Specialist™ designations, which are important assets that contribute to his work with his corporate and individual clients. 

With these designations, John has successfully completed coursework surrounding complex portfolio construction, investment analysis, and comprehensive wealth management in accordance to clients’ philanthropic mission, investment philosophy, and financial goals, and completed the Endowments & Foundations Consulting course through the Investments & Wealth Institute.
 
John lives in Rock Hall, Maryland, with his wife, Patty, their children, Noah and Ellie, and their pets.  Outside of the office, John is a certified principal race officer with U.S. Sailing and volunteers his services at Rock Hall Yacht Club.  He is active with his children’s sports and coaches lacrosse and ice hockey.

Katy began her investment industry career in 2015 and joined Stifel in 2022.  Prior to joining Stifel, she worked at Merrill Lynch as a Client Associate before becoming a financial advisor in 2017.   Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, she spent more than 15 years as a pricing agent for a manufacturing company and more than 10 years working as a credit and financial analyst in the banking industry. 

Katy earned a B.A. from Washington College and holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses.  She is committed to building relationships with her clients by understanding their personal and business needs and goals, as well as supporting her team by leveraging the full capabilities Stifel has to offer.  She is meticulous about providing an outstanding level of client care and professionalism. 

Outside of the office, Katy enjoys spending time with her husband, dog, and two grown daughters when they visit home.

Emily began her financial services career in 2016 and joined Stifel in 2023.  Prior to joining Stifel, she worked at Merrill Lynch in Easton, Maryland, as well as locally in Chestertown with Katy Lightburn.  Emily has a long history in customer service and finds meaning in helping clients address their account-related issues.  She is responsible for performing day-to-day operational tasks and delivering a top-tier service experience.
